The Seymour Centre presents a huge range of performing arts that aims to encourage cultural discovery, arts education and audience engagement. This year, the Seymour presents an excellent program for families showcasing some of the most amazing performances and productions.

The following pages list various family friendly events so if you have a young one at home, any one of these events will be perfect! You should also head to the Seymour Centre website to check out what else is on and start marking your calendar.

Courtyard Sessions

Got a kid? Got a pooch? Don't know where to go?

The Courtyard Sessions every Friday from 17 January to 28 March, 6pm to 9pm is where you should be. This brilliant event features budding musicians who are ready to show off their talent. Kick start your weekend with some live music and you might even discover your new favourite band! There'll also be a pop-up bar to quench your thirst, gourmet BBQ to satisfy your hunger, and roaming performers and vintage games to entertain you. Just bring yourself and good spirits to this free event.

The Incredible Book Eating Boy

Based on the bestselling picture book by Oliver Jeffers, The Incredible Book Eat Boy comes to life on stage with songs, movements and wonderful puppetry. Come and enjoy this quirky story about Henry, who loves books. But instead of reading them, he eats them! Guaranteed to be incredible for children aged between 3 and 8!

Squaring the Wheel

Prepare yourself for a totally amazing performance at Squaring the Wheel, which tells the story of finding one's place, between Monday 5 and Wednesday 7 May. Watch performer Jens Altheimer as he clowns around in the world of mechanisms. With weird contraptions, brave clowning, peculiar circus and puppetry, this award winning theatrical extravaganza is one not to be missed.
  • When: Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 May, 10am & 12.30pm

The Gruffalo

Beg, snatch or steal tickets to The Gruffalo and you won't regret it! Between Wednesday 25 June and Saturday 5 July, a magical musical adaptation of The Gruffalo will be coming to the Everest Theatre. This is an excellent show for children aged 3 and up (and their young at heart adults). Are you ready to go on the adventure of your lifetime with Mouse? With lots of songs, laughs and fun, your children will love it!

The 26-Storey Treehouse

The 26-Storey Tree house is coming to life on stage between Friday 5 and Wednesday 10 September. Adapted from the book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton, this sequel promises to be just as adventurous, entertaining and hilarious. Featuring 13 brand new storeys, come and see Andy and Terry's expanded treehouse and get ready for an action packed journey.

    • Friday 5, Monday 8, Tuesday 9 & Wednesday 10 September, 10am & 12pm

    • Saturday 9 September, 10am, 12pm & 3pm
