Belmont Library and the City of Belmont organise many events for its constituents, and this list is just some of these.

[b]* LEGO CLUB - BACK TO SCHOOL WITH FLAT STANLEY**
This event is for children aged 5 to 12 years and you will find out who Flat Stanley is when you attend this creative LEGO event and compete in the "speed build". You can work as a team and build a new school with him or you can create things with your friends - either way, it will be great fun!



This will be held on Wednesday 7th February, 2018 from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library, 215 Wright Street, Cloverdale.

This is a free event and you can register at the Eventbrite site.

[b] * KIDS FEST**
This event will turn Garvey Park into a fantasy land of fun! You and your family will have a fantastic afternoon and it is for children aged 3 to 12 years old.

There will be live entertainment, workshops, cuddly animals, games, rides and much more! Children can enjoy themselves with the entertainment and activities in Funland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Foodland and Sportsland.



And best of all, all these activities, attractions and parking are FREE with no tickets required! You will be able to buy tasty food and drinks from food trucks on site and it will be held on Sunday 18th February, 2018 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Garvey Park in Ascot.

[b]* PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS**
This six-week course is designed for those who want to improve their acrylic painting skills. You will learn about the rules of painting, with WA artist, Shirley Winstanley, and at the same time have fun and draw your subject on canvas.

The basic materials will be supplied and the course is suitable for all levels. These classes will be held every Tuesday from 6th February, through to 13th March, 2018 from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm, and the cost is $70 for Belmont residents and $120 per term for non-residents.

[b]* A ROMANCE OF WRITERS**
At this event, you will meet with authors Fiona Palmer, Rachel Johns, and Anthea Hodgson, and you can read more about this interesting early evening meetup at this site.

This event is on 13th February, from 6.30 pm to 8 pm.

[b]* TRIPLE8 KIDS CLUB - HEART BEATS**
If your child is over the age of 7, then he/she can join in the celebration of Valentine's Day by learning about different poetry styles. Children will get creative and make a unique card or memento as a surprise for someone special!



This will be held on Wednesday 14th February from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library, 215 Wright Street, and it is a FREE event. You can register at the Eventbrite site.

[b]* QUICK HEALTHY MEALS WITH NUTRITIONIST SARAH MOORE**
This event will teach you some basics of food preparation, how to make quick healthy meals, as well as some of the often made mistakes that families make. This is a perfect workshop for any parent who prepares the meals, snack and lunch boxes every day.



You will be served a light snack at this event, it will cost just $5 and bookings are required by phoning 9477 7454 or emailing [email protected]. This will be on Monday 26th February, 2018 from 1 pm to 2.30 pm at Rivervale Community Centre, Cnr Surrey Road and Francisco Street, Rivervale.

[b]* BABY RHYME TIME**
These sessions are held on Mondays, from 11 am to 11:30 am, and Thursdays, 9:15 am to 9: 45 am during school terms.

You will listen to rhymes, songs and simple stories with your baby, as well as having morning tea with friends, and this is for babies and toddlers up to 18 months of age. The next session is on 5th February and runs through to 12th April, 2018.

[b]* PAINTING WITH PASTELS**
WA award-winning artist, Val Brooks, will help you to create vibrant paintings from photos using chalk pastels. You can develop simple techniques for applying colour, and use light and shade to maximise the impact of your paintings. The basics will be supplied, and this is suitable for all levels.



These classes are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm, on 14th, 21st, and 28th February, 7th, 14th, and 21st March, 2018, and will cost $70 for Belmont residents and $120 for non-residents for the term.

They will be held at Rivervale Community Centre, Francisco Street, Rivervale and you can make your bookings at the Eventbrite site, or phone 9477 7454.

[b]* SATURDAY STORIES WITH DAD**
These interesting mornings will be held on the first Saturday of each month, from 11 am to 11:30 am, commencing on the 3rd February right through to December.

If you are a dad, a granddad, or other male carer or friend, you can bring your children to the Belmont Library and enjoy rhymes and songs followed by parents/carers reading to their children. Each child can choose a gift or a book to take home and keep and it is suitable for children up to 7 years of age.

[b] * HARMONIZE CULTURAL FESTIVAL**
Harmony Week runs from 15th to 21st March each year and the aim is for people to "experience, explore and appreciate the City's cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity".

Here, you can get together for a free family outdoor concert to celebrate our cultural diversity, along with our heritage, and to attempt to close the gap.

This will be held on Sunday, 18th March, 2018
