March must be the month for family festivals. The Melbourne calendar is chock full of them. If you want to take the family for a fun and cheap day out with plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied, then you might want to check out some of these family oriented festivals.
When? 9th and 10th March 11am – 5pm
Why? For all things kite-tastic as well as carnival rides, stalls and roving performers.
• What? City of Whittlesea Community Festival
Where? Whittlesea Public Gardens, Barry Road, Lalor
When? 17th March 12noon – 9pm
Why? For a celebration of the cultural diversity of Whittlesea. Includes community workshops and displays, international food, music and dances from different cultural groups as well as stalls, rides, kids and youth activities and fireworks.
• What? Eucalypt Festival
Where? Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, cnr Ballarto Road and Botanic Drive, Cranbourne
When? 31st March and 1st April 10am – 4pm
Why? For free kids' activities, gardening and craft workshops and entertainment, celebrating the humble eucalypt.
