It never ceases to amaze me the great free stuff on for families emanating from Federation Square.
This time the event is on at ACMI as part of their celebrations around their DreamWorks Animation Exhibition The exhibition traces animated classics from the tiny germ of an idea through to fruition and the making of an animated movie.
On July 13th
the first 100 people to turn up dressed as dragons or vikings gain free entry to the exhibition.
One of the most exciting things about the exhibition is an installation with a 180-degree panoramic projection which allows kids to have a "virtual ride" on the young dragon, Toothless. Apparently you get the best view if you lie flat as close to the screen as possible, and this makes it seem as if you are the dragon flying over mountains, Viking villages and even the ocean.
Other activities include learning to breathe fire using animated magic. There will also be lots of free performances, craft activities, studio workshops and games.
For some neat ideas on how to come up with some dragon or viking costumes check these sites out.

And kids love dressing up and will remember the day they arrived in the city with their tale or viking shield.
