4 Family Activities to Try This Weekend

During the week, it's hard to spend some quality time with your family as the daily schedule is usually very busy. In order to make it up to your kids, you should organise some stimulating weekend activities, preferably something new that you have never tried before. Kids will be looking forward to those special moments, so you should plan everything out carefully. Here are a few suggestions to help you pick activities that will be interesting and engaging.

Hiking

This is a great activity and you can enjoy it regardless of the weather. You can select the level of adventurousness that suits you and your kids, but it's recommended that for the first couple of times, you stick to shorter and less demanding trails with some interesting features such as a lake, waterfall, or anything else that will serve as a goal.

Hiking is an amazing way to teach your kids to love nature. Make sure to pack a map, first-aid set, flashlight, knife, matches, some extra clothes, and, of course, hiking shoes. Bring a lot of liquids and healthy snacks, and make frequent stops so that your kids don't get too tired and cranky. This will be an excellent opportunity for them to learn some survival skills and stay away from their TV sets and computers.

Skateboarding

Besides being fun, skateboarding can also help your kids develop balance, coordination, and agility. Improving core strength and flexibility are also among the benefits of this totally cool activity. But, first things first. When it comes to safety, helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads are essential for beginners. Choose flat, dry surfaces, away from traffic; teach your kids to check their boards before every ride; and make sure that there are no loose or broken parts. If you want to get everyone even more interested in this sport, it would be a good idea to start designing your own unique custom skateboards and personalising them.

Picnicking

Who doesn't like sitting on a comfy blanket under a tree, eating a sandwich, and enjoying the scenery? Kids especially love picnics, but they can easily get bored if you don't come up with some dynamic games. Tossing a frisbee or playing badminton are among picnic classics, so it's always safe to stick to them. On a windy day, flying a kite is an excellent idea, and kids will be thrilled to grab this colourful piece of fabric and watch it hit the sky, while adults will surely benefit from this relaxing and destressing activity. Bird watching is another way to connect with nature and learn more about it, so don't forget to pack your binoculars. In case that the weather looks a bit iffy, you can still have your picnic in the backyard.

Hot air ballooning

Now, this is a real treat! If you want to surprise your kids with something that they'll remember for a long time, book a hot air balloon flight. This exciting activity will offer your family a new perspective on the world. Prepare your kids for this breathtaking hot air balloon adventure by dressing them properly in layered clothing, pants, and sneakers with high socks. It's pretty windy up there, and you don't know where exactly you'll land, so it's good to be equipped for various terrains. Wear a hat or a baseball cap, as well as sunglasses, mainly because it's hot in a balloon thanks to the sun and the burner. Kids should go to the restroom before the flight, and make sure that they don't drink too much water or soda. Don't forget a camera or a cell phone because you'll definitely want some photos and videos from this spectacular experience.
