Water features, wetlands, boardwalks, native trees and playgrounds are features of Fairwater , a new housing estate in Blacktown. Built on land that was once Ashlar Golf Course, much of the native flora has been kept or relocated to retain a natural habitat in the 9.5 hectares of dedicated open space.



The playgrounds contain features suitable for all ages including toddler-friendly swings and a flying fox that is always popular with older children. Interactive sculptures and shaded picnic areas add to the enjoyment as does the network of shared pathways within the natural setting. Fitness stations are situated along the pathways and there is a cute "learn to cycle" track as well as a fun water play area.



As the estate is new, there is ongoing construction and the landscape is evolving. There is a cafe next to the central lake that serves coffee and takeaway food but there are no toilet facilities at the playgrounds.



Fairwater Park is definitely worth a visit if you have young children and are in the area.
