From 10am to 6pm this three day annual festival consists of several family friendly special events and activities and promotes Fair Trade and Ethical Businesses. Highlights of this year's Fair@Square event include Fair Trading which will be the main market site, consisting of some 80 stalls. Here you will find a huge range of Fair Trade and organic products. The Fair Indulgence Tent will be the site of delicious foods and cooking demonstrations. Here you can learn about diverse cultures through their cuisine as well as demonstrations of ceremonies, rituals and traditions.
The Fair Living Tent is all about home and lifestyle. Essentially it is a display of what the ethical home would look like; from furnishings and homeware to clothes and toys. This site aims to demonstrate how we can all embrace and use Fair Trade and Ethical products in the home everyday.
The Fair Play Tent is a specially designed site for children. Here you will find a range of interactive and fun workshops for children.
The Fair Fashion Show is a celebration of local artists and designers involved in ethical projects. This one night only fashion show is a ticketed event, which will be held in the BMW Edge, Federation Square on Friday 2 December. Tickets are currently on sale for this event and can be purchase from Moral Fairground.
The entertainment program, presented under the banner of Fair Entertainment will consist of culturally diverse local artists. The live entertainment program is expected to be a major highlight of the 2011Fair@Square Fair Trade & Ethical Festival. Performers participating in this year's event include Ida Fox, Kakao, Adam Cousens, The Bon Scotts, Pro Rata, Jhoom-Bollywood Dance Company, Quarry Mountain Dead Rats and Anna Smyrk and the Appetities. In addition to the shopping and entertainment, the educational aspect of the Fair@Square Fair Trade & Ethical Festival will be found at the Fair Talk Tent, which will be the site of special guest presentations and question and answer sessions.
The Fair@Square Fair Trade & Ethical Festival is organised by Moral Fairground, a special organisation which raise awareness and promote Fair Trade and Ethical Business in Australia.
This free public event is a great opportunity to not only stock up on fair trade and ethical products for Christmas but is a great family event, featuring live entertainment and special activities for children. Plus it is the perfect opportunity to learn all about Fair Trade and Sustainability.
