Established in 1996, The Fabulous Baker Boys Bakery along Montague Road in Pooraka is where you can enjoy a wide range of delicious baked goods. Aside from their pastries, the bakery also offers sandwiches and a good range of brunch style dishes.

The chunks of chicken in the Chicken and Mushroom Pie were of a good size and the vegetables added extra flavour and texture. The sauce binding the ingredients together did not taste too creamy and the pastry had a crisp and flaky texture. Take care when eating it as the filling is steaming hot.

One of the brunch style dishes available at the bakery, the portion size of the Big Breakfast is large enough for it to be shared. The eggs we chose to have scrambled were light and fluffy and the bacon and sausages were cooked just right. Cherry tomatoes and spinach added some freshness and the mushroom had a hint of butter to their taste. Completing the dish were crisp and fluffy hash browns and toasted housemade bread spread with some butter.

A good choice for vegetarians, the cauliflower and chickpeas in the Curry, Cauliflower and Chickpea Pie retained some firmness and gave the filling a different texture compared to their meat pies. While the filling included curry spices, the degree of spiciness is suitable for most tastes.

We liked that the chunks of steak in the Chunky Steak, Mushroom and Pepper Pie lived up to its name without being too tough. The mushrooms complemented the steak nicely and enough pepper was included in the sauce to make eating the pie a satisfying experience.

The perfect size for a single diner, the flaky pastry used in the Chicken Pocket gave it a different texture compared to their regular pies. The chunks of chicken in the pie were tender and of a good size and the various other vegetables complemented it nicely.

Their Sausage Roll had a nice golden-brown colour and the sausage filling did not taste too salty and had a delightful meaty texture to it. Compared to the puff pastry used in the Chicken Pocket, the one used for their Sausage Roll had a firmer texture.

The decor of the bakery gave it a cozy feel. Diners have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Visitors that visit between 7am and 1pm can enjoy a deal of two Big or Veggie Breakfast dishes for just $25.
