This year has reminded us of the pleasure and simplicity of enjoying the outdoors on a picnic with family or friends. But, where to go? If you've seen enough of your local parks and classic picnic spots,
The Great Eynesbury Eat Out offers somewhere a little different and special to take the family or meet with friends.
Forty minutes from the city and a world away, the Eynesbury homestead is an elegant bluestone building built in the 1870s and beautifully restored to include the modern Ms Peacocks restaurant and bar.
There's plenty of space to spread out and enjoy The Great Eynesbury Eat Out and Ms Peacocks has put on a tasty menu and beverages are available from both the restaurant and the new 'Bird Bar(th) outdoor drink van, which you can take out to enjoy wherever you like in the surrounding property.
Casual take away meal options include great quality pizzas, salads, antipasto platters, burgers, desserts and some yummy choices for the kids. There are loads of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options to choose from to keep you hydrated in the summer sun.
You can grab a picnic rug and set up on the picturesque greenery of the Eynesbury Homestead lawn, a manicured garden in front of the bluestone building, with large old trees for plenty of shade, native birdlife and some beautiful resident peacocks. Here you can escape the current world, and imagine you are back in time perhaps to a world of British pastoralists with grand country homes miles from anywhere.
For some more socialising with entertainment options, you can enjoy your picnic on the other side of the building, taking a seat at one of the many picnic tables or beach style seats and lounges at the
Eynesbury Beach Resort . There is loads of sand, a big screen playing live sports, and free jumping castle for the kids.
After your picnic, you could chill out and have a few more bevvies on site or explore the surrounds including the many walking trails, Grey Box woodland, Werribee River and Gorge, ornamental lake or have a game of golf at the nearby
Eynesbury Golf Course .
