Form human connections with this free eye gazing event
Look into my eyes, deep into my eyes, you will start to feel...connected. On May 6 the Human Connection Movement will bring the free Eye Gazing Event to Orleigh Park at West End. Eye gazing is designed to break down barriers and form connections with others.

The Human Connection Movement is a global organisation that believes in the importance of giving people the opportunity to form real connections. In the digital age we can communicate efficiently and flexibly, but are we communicating in a meaningful manner?

The Eye Gazing event involves people forming up into pairs, not talking, but just staring into each other's eyes. When look at someone's eyes we are not just seeing their eyes, but looking at their face, perceiving their feelings and getting to know them in a way that goes beyond just words. After all, over 90% of emotional communication is done non-verbally.

At the event, which runs for 4 hours, people sit down together, or if no one is free, you can just sit and wait for someone to come to sit with you. People are encouraged to relax and just look at each other. Then move on to the next person. You can chat, but it is encouraged that you chat after you have completed the eye gazing. Overall the feeling people get is usually of connection and understanding. Something a conversation doesn't often achieve.

The event will be in Orleigh Park West End, near the intersection of Montague Road and Hill End Terrace. Driving to this event shouldn't be to much trouble because this is on the far side of West End away from the main strip, which means parking shouldn't be a problem. But you can also take the CityCat there or one of many buses from the city such as the 199, 192 or 60.

You might want to bring a blanket or a cushion to sit on. You can spend as little or as long as you want at the event. If you plan to stay longer consider bringing a picnic lunch.

To finish with, I thought it would be nice to let you gaze into my eyes.

Ha, ha, Roy, it could be a bit awkward staring into a stranger's eyes for any length of time...I must admit I would probably get the giggles!

I've never heard of anything like this before but what a great idea. People are becoming way to disconnected these days. Your eye photo was a fitting way to end the article.

I would encourage people to do this and truly open their heart and soul to it as it can bring such incredible new experiences into your life and provide a much deeper understanding of the human connection xo
