I write for Weekend Notes and I take photographs, usually sunsets and sunrises. Occasionally I include my photos in my articles. I like to promote Geelong, and activities around Geelong.
You could attend a food or wine festival nearly every weekend in Geelong. The Extravaganza Weekend is one you shouldn't miss. On Saturday October 17th, the 3rd Extravaganza Geelong is being held at Deakin Waterfront Campus.
The Extravaganza Weekend is a public food and wine event. It was created to support and promote the food and agri-business industry of Victoria's south west. You can find, taste and purchase the best local produce, meet chefs and wine makers - all from Victoria's south west region, all in one Day, all in one Place and all in Central Geelong.
There is a huge program of activities, demonstrations, entertainment, master classes, and delicious lunches, presented by the region's winemakers, producers, brewers, and chefs. A truly extravagant day to celebrate the best that the region has to offer.
Come and enjoy the food and wine, the cheese, beers and other fine fare that showcases Geelongs best produce. Like the slogan says "Eat Drink Discover Local". Try the best of the best from Geelong, The Otways, the Golden Plains Shire, Bellarine and Queenscliff.
The weekend starts with an industry business development forum on Friday for Industry. Then Saturday the doors are open to the public. Cellar door and farm gate samples and sales, live cooking demonstrations, master classes and tasting plates for lunch - are all available on Saturday.
Eat regional breads, cheeses, market garden produce and seafood. Discover the best local produce, chefs and wine makers from Victoria's south west region. Drink Australia's most prized wine, beer and cider. Over 60 regional food producers, wineries, breweries and restaurants will showcase a range of beer, wine and bread, cheeses, vegetables, oils, seafood and meats and fruit. Taste test a range of chocolates, sweets, teas and coffee.
Cooking demonstrations will be scheduled during the day. What a great way to improve your cooking knowledge. Watch the professionals and learn their tips, tools, techniques and ingredients.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch with friends. Lunch is served with small tasting plates, specialty coffee and live music.
There are fun activities for children. There is a scavenger hunt, children get to harvest real vegetables and also learn how bees make honey.
