Having spent a substantial amount of time in India I became acquainted with the art of threading. What is threading you may wonder? Practitioners take a piece of cotton thread and work magic over your eyebrows and facial hair twisting the thread until all unwanted hair disappears. It is a great alternative to waxing, plucking or using harsh chemicals as literally just a piece of thread is used to remove the unwanted hair. Threading is especially good for people with sensitivities to wax as there is no allergic reaction to a piece of thread. Threading is said to have began hundreds of years ago in India and spread to the Middle East where it is still very popular today.
Threading has started making its way West and a fantastic place to try threading is the Express Beauty Bar located in the Grace Hotel in the CBD. It's tucked away in the back corner of the hotel cheerfully decorated with bright orange chairs and a vintage feel. I went there recently and had a wonderful threading experience with Rosalyn, originally from Nepal, the threading expert at the Express Beauty Bar. She is very calm and sweet and takes special care and attention when removing the hair. Is it painful you might ask? It can be a bit uncomfortable but it passes very quickly. Your face feels so smooth after threading and it lasts for 3-4 weeks.
Give threading a go. It's a beauty experience that is unique and well worth it if you are striving for those perfect eyebrows.
I always get my eyebrows threaded and found it safe and easy. The 2 places I recommend are Vani's beauty parlour - Henley road Flemington that charges $7.
and one on Strathfield Boulevard which charges $10
Threading is also my preferred method of facial hair removal... However both the pricing and quality are somewhat inconsistent at The Express Beauty Bar... Unfortunately, Threading Salons are in short supply in the CBD... Please do share news of any decent local Threadists.
