Expedition Sydney Escape Rooms in Redfern is a new physical adventure Escape Room establishment and completing your first mission is trying to find it! Without ruining it too much, once you enter the door, you are greeted to a couple more doors; can you find the one to the Escape Room adventure?

After being welcomed by the charming Lindsey (who later was our "God" during our mission), the 'mission' began.

We were asked to put on blindfolds, stand in a single line, hands on the person's shoulder in front, and then we were lead to a room called the 'The Forgotten Son'. Lindsey then reads out a script which sets the scene.

Anticipation built up, a rush of adrenalin kicked in and the feeling of the unknown set in and to top it all off my senses went into a wild frenzy.

After we took off the blindfolds, it became clear that we were in the Australian outback. The room had dimmed lighting, eerie vibes, and sounds of wildlife in the background added to the scene.

Nightfall crept up upon us, as the clock ticked, and solving the puzzles seemed to be getting harder.

Emotions flew around the room, and each time we thought we were close to escaping, something unsuspected occurred, or another door opened.

We ignored the fear of being stuck in purgatory if we did not escape in time and persevered to escape.

We looked for clues which lead to the next. At times we seemed to be going around in circles, till a mysterious voice shadows the room above "Travellers would you like a hint?"

The voice of 'God' adds hope by offering hints and pointing us in the right direction.

Did we escape or did we get stuck in purgatory?

Briefing of The Forgotten Son:

%%'The sun is low on the horizon on your return trek in High Country Victoria. As the cold start to bite you notice a faint smell of wood fire lingering in the air and a flickering flame can be seen between the haze in the distance.

Seeking shelter you make your way towards the light where you come upon an old wooden, rusty, tin house. The sounds of a sobbing child emanate from within. In sensing its distress and unable to leave the child you look for a way in...%%' (Quoted by Expedition Sydney)

The Escape Room is four out of five difficulty rating and is suited for 3-6players.

If you do get stuck, ask for help from "God", who, via a speaker, will offer hints and suggestions.

This physical adventure game is a little different from other traditional Escape Rooms; there are microcontrollers and automation, which give the room personality. An element of mystery is added with the blindfolds and with the first step of finding the establishment makes it more exciting and anticipating.

Overall, this Escape Room was fun, enjoyable and featured some of the best puzzles I have seen as well as spectacular attention to detail of the props and furnishings.

Expedition Sydney is in the process of opening other themes with one opening within the next couple months. I cannot wait to experience the new rooms once they are complete!

Expedition Sydney is located close to Redfern Station and is near several eateries.

Parking is available nearby.
