The Visitors Centre at the Australian National Botanic Gardens is a beautiful space for taking in an art exhibition. The centre regularly features exhibitions in
fine art, photography, craft, sculpture and other creative areas. There are new exhibitions every month that focus on a variety of
themes such as environment, science, history, and culture.
Current and forthcoming exhibitions at the Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre include:
**Kalamurina Luminous Desert Exhibition - 3 August – 4 September
**
Presented by Tony Fleming
The Kalamurina Wildlife Sanctuary is located between the Simpson Desert Regional Reserve and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park, spanning the Warburton River.
Covering 677,065 hectares and 9 diverse ecosystems, such as a network of freshwater and saline lakes, floodplains, riparian habitat, and dunefields, the Kalamurina Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique desert sanctuary.
This exhibition features images of the diverse range of life and landscape found in this area, inspiring visitors to learn more about this magical region.
**The Ian Potter National Conservatory Design Competition Exhibition - 12–26 September

A garden design competition was held to select an architect and design team to design The Ian Potter National Conservatory, which will become a new project within the Garden's Master Plan 2015 – 2035. This exhibition features entries from the finalists in this competition.
**From the Red Heart - 7 September – 9 October
**
Presented by Sharon Field & Cathy Franzi
Two artists, Sharon Field & Cathy Franzi present a range of works such as paintings, ceramics and drawings that are inspired by the flora in the Red Centre Garden at the Botanic Gardens. This fascinating exhibition highlights the passion both artists share for Australian plants.
**Flora of the Paris Basin - 12 October – 6 November
**
Presented by Guillaume Tcherkez and sponsored by the French Embassy in Canberra
This exhibition is the 'sister' of a similar exhibition on Australian flowers presented in Paris in 2013 and supported by the Australian Embassy. Flora of the Paris Basin will explore wild flowers as a subject in impressionist art; as well as the relationships between Australian species and French species.
