This month's exhibition,
Some People Are Stories by Vincent Serico is a must see. As well as brilliant art work, the information accompanying the paintings offers an incredible insight into Aboriginal history... the real story.
I was particularly interested in Pension Day Corroboree which depicts activities such as gambling and drinking in the Corroboree grounds.
I've never been particularly clever at interpreting art, so reading the description about the paintings gave me a depth and understanding of the works.
If you have school-age children, take them along so they can learn about aboriginal history in a visual and meaningful way.
The second exhibit,
Donna Davis: Unseen, is based on science and uses a fascinating variety of techniques. Donna Davis shares her fascination with ectomycorrhizal fungi. The mixing of science and art is potentially leading us to an awareness of environmental realionships.
The exhibit includes an amazing array of techniques. There
are little jars of specimens, nail art in the form of various fungi, labels that need a torch shined on them.
This amazing piece is different when you view it from the right and the left.
