Aah the feel of fresh clean water...

That's what you will find at Ewen Maddock Dam situated in the beautiful Mooloolah Valley 5 minutes north of Landsborough.

A delightful way to spend a hot summer day and there's plenty to do.

I first discovered Ewen Maddock Dam about a year ago whilst driving around the Landsborough area.

If you like safe, fresh water swimming, kayaking, bush walking or trail bike riding this is the place to come. There is something for everyone!

A children's play area is nestled among the trees, there are shaded picnic benches dotted around the bush with stunning views of the dam and Glass House Mountains. Or if you prefer, safe and easy bushwalking.

The boardwalk around the edge of the lake will take you around 5 kilometres of the lake with viewing platforms every so often. The boardwalk turns into an easy bush track with delightful wooden bridges at intervals along the way.

I spied many bush orchids and other beautiful native plants along the way and found the going very easy, you don't have to be fit to take this delightful walk around the lake.

On a hot day, the dam is dotted with kayakers and rowboats whilst the swimming area (roped off and safe for youngsters, is filled with fun and laughter as families enjoy the water, or sitting sunning on the lovely sandy beach or grassed areas.

Parking is easy and there are toilet facilities. This is by far one of my favourite swimming spots.

Ewen Maddock Dam is an easy drive down the Bruce Highway taking the Landsborough turnoff and then into the Mooloolah Valley Turnoff about 2 kilometres up at Connection Rd, just past the skate board park.
