I love Brisbane. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to places by the water to enjoy a meal. Last weekend I went with my husband and my son to in Teneriffe. I have always wanted to go to , as it sounded like a lovely place to eat and being by the river, I thought that would add to the ambience. Breakfast is my favourite time of the day and sharing this experience with my 2 favourite boys is a great way to start the day.

The breakfast menu was varied and had a good selection of items to choose from. Both my boys ordered the 'Big Breakfast' or as the menu read - "The Works" which included eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, potato cake and turkish bread, a substantial feed for growing men. I ordered the avocado on sourdough toast with poached eggs. Our coffees took a little while to make it to our table, but with the beautiful view of the river and the morning walkers, joggers and cyclists we couldn't complain.

Our meals arrived in good time and both my boys were impressed with the size of the 'Big Breakfast'. My husband was particularly impressed with the tasty mushrooms and my son liked the bacon and sausage. For under $20 it was very good value. My avocado and bacon on sourdough was just right for me and was fresh and tasty. My only criticism is that the toast was a little dry.

Eve's On the River has apparently been here for the last 10 years and just observing some of the fellow diners, it appeared that some were either local folk or frequent diners as the staff seemed to greet them as old friends. It was child friendly and some of the children while waiting for their meals to arrive, wandered down by the river to play.Their parents could keep an eye on them, whilst enjoying their coffee and reading the paper.

The wonderful thing about choosing a nice location to enjoy breakfast, is that you can explore the neighbourhood after you have finished breakfast. The day is still young and Autumn is ideal for walking and what better place to walk but along the Brisbane River. The walkway and cycle way around Teneriffe is just perfect for that after breakfast walk. A very good place to explore. I always feel healthier when I can go for a leisurely stroll after I eat and with the companionship of my two boys, what more could I ask for.
