I very much enjoyed an evening at the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Art watching Women in Voice. This is a beautiful collection of women's voices singing, dancing and making us laugh for an evening. Women in Voice has been going for 21 years and each year it comes back stronger and more innovative, with engaging new talent and this is one performance that is fixed in my diary.
I like going to the Centre because I think Women in Voice is typical of the calibre of programmes that you will find at the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Art or as it is fondly known here- at the Judy.
November is full of the most attractive shows:
Nov 4th to the 8th Sediment – Some of you may recall "Scotch and Soda" – well they have joined forces with David Carberry and Chelsea McGuffin to produce an evening of circus, dance and entertainment based on Dostoyevsky's "Notes from the Underground".
Nov 12th, 13th and 15th for Babushkas "I can keep a secret" – a cabaret confessional with four lovely women – look out for Bethane Ellsmore from Women in Voice. She is the one with the flaming red hair!
Nov 21st to Sat 29th Wrecking Ball is back. A little red company production created by Adam Brunes and Naomi Price with dialogue which will amuse and engage you.
Nov 21st and 22nd features the singing talents of Luke Kennedy (from the Voice Australia) and the song writing talents of Mark Sholtez. Quite a combination, for an evening of beautiful music.
Nov 29th Kupka's Piano final piano concerto for 2014 featuring Liza Lims Veil and a new work by Ben Marks of the Elision Ensemble.
