An elite equestrian event on the banks of the Swan
For the fourth year, Perth will host Eventing in the Park – An Elite Equestrian Grand Prix on the banks of the Swan River on Saturday, 10th December from 7am, with the first event starting at 11am.
Equestrian lovers will thrive at this opportunity to witness some of the Australia's best riders, as well as those from Canada and New Zealand in action at this eventing competition, which will be held at Taylor Reserve in Victoria Park.
Presented by Channel 7 and McInerney Ford, Eventing in the Park combines the best parts of a traditional three-phase event – dressage, cross-country and showjumping event, and condenses the three into what it calls the '20/20 cricket version of the sport'.
Each of the 100 riders, including WA and interstate Olympians, will tackle a series of gruelling challenges requiring technical jumping skills, athleticism and trust to navigate the solid, natural obstacles and showjumping rails.
This year, spectators will be able to view all the action from a number of exclusive marquees, including the GH Mumm Platinum Lounge, the Kirin Riders Lounge and The McInerney Ford Lounge, as well as the elevated Grand Stand. You can find out more information about the marquees and viewing platform at the Eventing in the Park website. Tickets for the marquees start from $80 plus any booking fees.
Fashions on the Field will take place at 2:15pm, so frock up in your best outfit and stand out from the crowd as event talent scouts will be on the hunt for those who know how to dress up. You could be taking part in the fashion parade and win a prize, simply for being there and looking fabulous.
The main event, the Grand Prix competition, will begin at 3:30pm, but before the action gets underway, guests will have an amazing opportunity to walk the course and view the obstacles up close. If you're not a horse rider, simply seeing these huge jumps and what horse and rider must conquer will leave you wondering how they do it.
Eventing In The Park will also have a designated Family Zone, where guests and spectators can view the action in the shaded areas of the reserve. Family tickets start from $30 for individuals and $50 for family tickets (plus any booking fees) and families are encouraged to bring their own seating and shade cover. Children aged under three are free.
Taylor Reserve is located just near the causeway, and the best entry is via Taylor Street from Canning Highway. Public parking is available with a $5 donation, proceeds from which will go to Rotary.
