As much as I like the sun, personally, I don't think there is anything better than a nice, grey, rainy day. When it rains, you have these unexplainable urges that are listed as follows;
- To snuggle back into bed.
- Find any thick blanket you can and throw yourself on the couch while curling yourself up into a soft ball of sleepiness.
- And raid your fridge and cupboards for any form of junk food you can get your hands on.
Including these rainy day urges you have, out in that misty, wet weather, there is still a lot of things that you have random impulses to do.

For me, it's to call that one friend who absolutely hates cold rainy days and drag them out to a movie. Knowing its raining outside somehow makes the theatre experience more lively, and you feel more energetic once you're finally out of your comfy PJ's and into the wide world of water drops. Being the giant child that I am, I cannot resist the urge to play in rain puddles. I recommend you try it, and I challenge you not to sing the song "Singing in the Rain" while you prance around with a silly grin on your face.

Another benefit to days like this is the hot beverages. Oh yes, the beverages. Be it coffee, hot chocolate or tea, you can sit comfortably in the warmth of your local café, such as Gloria Jeans, and relish in the sweet, sweet sensation of that heated liquid warming you from the inside out.

I don't think I need to explain why watching a movie on a rainy day is fun; it's just a universal feeling you have, everyone gets that giddy, almost excited feeling when it rains and the talk of a movie is in the air. Recently visiting Greater Union, Event Cinema at the Glendale Super Centre, I had my rainy day perfected with the perfect balance of movie, junk food and hot beverage.

I loved the way that when you walk inside, its almost as if you are out to see a play. The dim lighting and the sparkling hanging lights pull you inside, tugging at your attention. It's like a giant blanket is wrapping around you the moment you're seated. The classic thick curtains lining the walls soften your experience and set you up in a cosy cocoon of excitement. I feel totally at peace with my Malteasers in one hand, my hot chocolate in the other, my Pringles on my lap and my friend beside me trying to eat my food. It's always fun to go to the movies, and at Greater Union, I got a very comfortable feeling, of security and anticipation.

With a modern style and the irresistible smell of fresh popcorn filling the air, Greater Union is that perfect destination after a morning of pyjamas, blankets and spotty bed socks. If you don't have a grumpy friend who hates wet weather to take to the movies, I suggest anyone you can grab, because the thrill of the day and the excitement of the movies isn't something to pass up.
