The
Eveleigh Farmers’ Market is held each Saturday from 8am to 1pm in the fantastic (and heritage-listed) Eveleigh Market which is an old renovated wharehouse-shed in Darlington.
The market opened in 2009 and currently has over 80 stall holders.
From the website, the market features:
"
...a vast array of seasonal fresh and value-added produce including organic, bio dynamic foods from farmers and artisan food producers across New South Wales. The array of farm produce will encompass seasonal fruit and vegetables, nuts, organic pasta, free-range pork, artisan cheese, other dairy foods, and baked goods."
Queen Victoria Markets it ain't, however it is a great venue and the range of produce on offer is impressive for a market which has just started out in life. I predict that it will become a staple of the Sydney farmers' market scene.
The website has a
gallery with a few pictures to give you an idea of what to expect.
The market entrance is located at
243 Wilson St, Darlington.
The market website has a
good guide to getting to the market.
Redfern train station is close by, and the market runs a shuttle service to nearby carparks.
Why? Rustic venue, good range of food. Definitely worth checking out. Yum yum.
