Stocking up on fruit and vegetables is a favourite past-time of many women. Particularly when they are fresh and locally accessed. While jam and relish making as well as freezing seasonable fruit and vegetables has become more popular again, any time is the right time to stock up.

While driving towards the Dandenongs via Boronia Road, I saw a large sign at the Boronia Village, promoting Europa, so I made a quick left hand turn into the centre and found Europa market tucked at the back of the village.

Boronia Village has a number of pleasant, inexpensive eating places, most notably Hilda's Cafe where you'll be rewarded with great coffee as well as home made vanilla slices to swoon over, not to mention other home cooked treats. There's a newsagent, a hairdresser, clothes shop, bakery, meat shop, and a large Rivers outlet store not to mention one of the best NQR stores around. Plenty of parking spaces are available including disabled parking spaces throughout the carpark.

I managed to secure a parking spot right outside the door of Europa. This was my first visit, even though Europa has been at this address for some time. As a regular shopper at the previous fruit store at these premises, I was used to buying good quality and was looking forward to being able to do the same at Europa. I wasn't disappointed in fact I was even more impressed with this store as I entered it.

The Europa market is just that; a large marketplace under the one roof. Their stocks of varied fresh produce cover well known fruit and vegetable varieties and even some that are not as well known. Their prices are comparable with the better fresh produce stores.

The fresh produce is complemented by large shelves of smallgoods and cheeses while there is a deli section devoted to deli meats and other goods.

They stock a large supply of dried lentils, peas, pastas/spaghettis as well as jams, relishes, curry pastes, oriental and asian sauces, condiments, mustards, coffees and a great selection of nougats.

Maybe, coffee?

After coffee, nougat anybody?

I couldn't resist the beautiful bright yellow pears at just 79 cents a kilo just inside the door. They were fresh, sweet and juicy.

When wanting to stock up in small or large quantities, Europa is the place to go. All necessary pantry goods are available as well as the fruit and vegetable selections and this market is a "must" to visit. Take time to call on at NQR next door for some great bargains too.

Unfortunately they do not have a website, however their telephone number is 9762 7422 and the staff will be glad to assist you with any enquiry.

In fact you may want to chat with the manager if he was misleading you; this ad lists the Boronia store among others:
