The Eureka Stockade took place in Ballarat on 3 December 1854. Every year Ballarat commemorates this event with Eureka Day.

This year's event will take place from 10.00am to 5.00pm at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (MADE), located at the site of the Eureka Rebellion.

Author and journalist, Peter FitzSimons will present the Peter Tobin Oration about the legacy of the Eureka Stockade at 11.00am.

At 1.00pm, a plaque will be unveiled to commemorate 4,000 women of the Gold Fields in the foyer of MADE.

Watch Chips Rafferty's in the 1949 film, Eureka Stockade at 3.00pm.

Other activities and events include unseen sketches and drawings from the time of Eureka, including the plan of attack and Bentley's Hotel, Learn the great speeches in Democracy Karaoke, have your say in the park, enjoy a bite to eat in the brand new cafe,
archaeological digs and meet animals at the petty zoo.
