Gone are the days when Eumundi was an integral centre of the timber and dairy industry in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. Today, this vibrant, quaint little town is fondly known for its colourful, quirky ways and artisan delights … from galleries to gift shops and, of course, the Eumundi Markets , visitors will discover creativity everywhere.

But, did you know … this artistic flair spills over into the streets, lighting up a variety of nooks and crannies, throughout the town of Eumundi. No matter which way visitors roam, art can be found in different shapes and forms, in every little corner, throughout the town.

Locals and tourists will discover street art treasures in alleyways, across outdoor walls, inside cafes and bars and even roadside, on the refuse bins. Next time you visit Eumundi, be sure to follow the Street Art Trail Map and be inspired by how art can really help transform a town!

A great way to start your day - any day except Sunday, when it's closed - is with a coffee and a treat at Humdrum Espresso , overlooking the Dick Caplick Park, a fabulous children's playground that has been created beneath and within the majestic fig trees. When entering the Humdrum Espresso car park, look to the left to discover the first piece of street art, located behind the Sala Thai building.

Take a wander around the back of the cafe, through the Dick Caplick Park to explore the colourful art that showcases the Caplick Way underpass as well as bin panels in the Dick Caplick Park. These were created during the 2017 Horizon Festival and feature local talent from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. The inside 'ceiling' of the underpass looks like it has recently been 'earmarked' for more fabulous colour and art.

Continue your walk through the Original Eumundi Markets (this is an easy, leisurely stroll on the days when the market is not running) towards the Eumundi RV Stop. This is the location for the exquisite Body Art Festival mural. If visiting on a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday, make sure you have enough time to check out Eumundi Square , home to one hundred creative and vibrant permanent boutique shops.

On Fridays, Eumundi Square cater to those locals and visitors who prefer to meander without the hustle and bustle...enjoying some quiet quality shopping time…with plenty of FREE car parking available too.

Take an upward walk back to Memorial Drive to the Bohemian Bungalow Restaurant with the love heart art, inspired by the John Lennon Wall in Prague in the Czech Republic.

Walk down the alleyway to have a look 'n see at the quote by Banksy and homage to Dame Edna Everage - luckily there's a comfy seat, so sit back to enjoy the read.

Further down Memorial Drive, art lovers will find gorgeously coloured Indigenous art along a rock wall. Onwards to 87 Memorial Drive, and book worms will discover Berkelouw Books Eumundi , the oldest bookseller in Australia, boasting a comprehensive selection of new books; more than 100,000 second-hand books and a treasure trove of rare books. Berkelouw Books also have an exclusive selection of gifts, cards and stationery items.

Next door to Berkelouw Books is the quaint Berkelouw Cafe Eumundi , serving up delicious and healthy homemade food, focussing on local products and gluten-free products. Outside the Berkelouw Cafe, look out for the quirky Mort Murray and Vicki Murray mural.

To finish up your easy art-ey stroll around the hinterland village of Eumundi, why not visit The Imperial Hotel for something liquid and a lunch/dinner menu worth drooling over. The iconic Imperial Hotel has been welcoming locals and tourists since its opening in 1911. Home to the Eumundi Brewery and Eumundi Distillers, this majestic Queenslander hotel is a Sunshine Coast 'must do'.

Enjoy the colourful creative decor and murals, expansive verandahs and relaxed vibe and you will soon realise that The Imperial Hotel is the creative hub of Eumundi. So … how do you Eumundi?

A bit of historical trivia, courtesy of www.sunshinecoast-australia.com/eumundi-history, regarding Eumundi's name -'The town name is thought to be derived from "Ngumundi" or "Huomundy". This is the name of a local Aboriginal warrior said to have adopted escaped convict Bracefield as his son in 1831.'
