I love the Eumundi markets but in summer find it too hot to enjoy a wander around the dazzling array of stalls. More often than not summer at Eumundi markets means sunburn, dehydration and crankiness. The solution to this of course is twilight markets and this year the Eumundi markets will open on Fridays from 5-9pm on 5, 12, and 19 Dec as well as on Friday 2 Jan, 2015.
The Eumundi night markets promise -fabulous food; -a light spectacular; -outdoor movies for the family; -$5 photos with Santa between 5.30 and 7.30; -street performers; -free kids rides; -live music; -classic cars and -free parking.
The entire main street of Eumundi will be lit up with Christmas lights and the Eumundi town Christmas Tree will have an upcycled theme - market visitors are invited to bring shiny cutlery to hang on the tree. There will also be caroler, visits from Elsa from Frozen, a great line up of live music and Christmas craft workshops n 19 Dec.
If you have ever been to Eumundi markets you know how fantastic they are with a dazzling assortment of stalls selling more than you could possibly imagine. It is a great place to buy interesting and unusual gifts. In my many years of visiting the markets on Wednesday or Saturday mornings I have bought clothes, hats, belts, toys for kids, metal animals for the garden, a metal wall hanging of Tour De France cyclists and of course indulged in some of the fantastic food on offer such as the real fruit slushies, Japanese Okonomiyaki pancakes and delicious paella. So the cool evening breeze and the addition of evening movies can only make them better.
