Why not go to Eumundi to do your Christmas shopping?

Historical tidbits along Memorial Drive welcome you to the town. A plaque dedicated to the memory of Pte. A.M. McIntyre, killed in action in France in 1918 sits adjacent to the 94 year old tree planted in his honour. This tree is a testament of strength and durability sitting at the market site.

This same durability has encompassed the market since its inception back in 1979. Now 33 years later, 1.6 million people have visited the over 600 stalls. It has come a long way from its tiny beginnings.

With a blend of local artisans, designers and more, Christmas shopping here is enjoyable. Check it all out at www.eumundimarkets.com.au and see for yourself.

Kookaburra Copper is 40 years old, locally owned and passed down from one family member to the next. Jason and Shirley Craig run the business located in Tewantin. You can find them at the markets every Saturday from 7am - 2pm.

The flow and feel that exudes from the hand crafted wall art can be felt from Jason himself who doesn't consider himself an artist even though he has been at it for over 20 years. It is gratifying to find something truly unique and craftsmanship and pride shine in these creative pieces. Though they don't have a website, you can call them at 0411 0444 004 and visit them in their workshop.

At another stall garden art plaques are on sale. Gargoyle like in nature, these sculpted wall heads with names like Oliver and the Gate Keeper were walking out of this stall located close to the parking area. One man drove up from Brisbane on Saturday to purchase the Gate Keeper. Luckily it was still there for him as on that day the shopkeeper had only one.

Wallets made expertly with 8, 12 and 15 card compartments come complete with leather coin pouches. Resilient, sturdy, attractive and priced affordably means you can pick up more than one for Christmas. Homemade preserves, sauces, dips and marinades all would make great gifts for the foodies on your list. There are hand crafted table cloths, tea towels and more brought in from Provence, France. Wooden bowls carved to perfection, kids clothes, shoes, belts and so much more fill the stalls waiting to go into someone's Christmas stocking.

There is gourmet calamari, German sausage, coffee aromas that surround you and the atmosphere relaxing with the music of the musicians scattered about. Maybe you can give yourself a break and stay overnight looking further into the town. You can check out Eumundi accommodations online.

Come for the day and drift around the markets. You will need at least 3 to 4 hours to see it all. Come for the weekend and see the rest of the area as well. The craftsmanship of wares is excellent and worth the drive to find that unique something for the loved ones on your Christmas list.
