Relaxed shopping under the stars
Summer Nights return to the Eumundi Markets this month with free movies, live music, and much more. For five weeks, beginning December 14, a smaller version of the famous Original Eumundi Markets will take place each Friday night from 5pm until 9pm.
The first two Fridays (December 14 and 21) will have a festive feel with roaming Christmas carollers and a very special guest – Santa Claus. Kids can get creative making Christmas decorations or get their faces painted with festive designs, for a gold coin donation.
Flicks in the Sticks will screen a different movie each week, starting around 6:30pm. Kids can enjoy Christmas classics like The Grinch (December 14) and Polar Express (December 21). Post Christmas movies include Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (December 28), Surf's Up (January 4), and Fantastic Mr. Fox (January 11). These moonlight movies are free.
While the kids are cosy under the stars, meander the market stalls including food, art and crafts, massages, and palmistry. At the Original Eumundi Markets, everything is either homemade, home baked or home grown. You'll find handmade, unique items such as original art, sculptures, furniture, toys, homewares, skincare, fashion, and jewellery. Dine al fresco at one of the ethnic food stalls with laksa, paella, calamari, and more.
Live music is an integral part of the Eumundi Markets, and the line-up for Summer Nights is stellar: Sassy Jazz and Robyn Brown (December 14) and Juzzie Smith and Tom Richardson (December 21). Summer nights don't get any better than this.
The historic hinterland town of Eumundi is located twenty kilometres west of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, about one hour north of Brisbane. Click here for information on how to get to the markets, including by car, bus, or train.
