I escaped to Sydney over 11 years ago and haven't looked back since. I enjoy going to cafes, local markets and festivals, and finding the best views in town for free. Visit my twitter page:
Spend the day buying unique, local treasures
Explore the many unique, hand-made and creative goods at the Etsy Community Market on 29 July. The popular website will be taking over the Brewery Yard markets in the city from 10am-3pm for one Saturday.

Etsy is an online marketplace for sellers and buyers, like eBay and Amazon. Items on are often handcrafted, vintage or personalised so you can find something truly unique and special. You can also find plenty of craft supplies if you would prefer to create something of your own.

The Etsy community markets will be held in other cities on the same day, including Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide. The Sydney event will have over 70 local stall holders, selling everything from beautiful ceramics and jewellery to screen printed clothing and cookie mixes.

Some of the items you can expect to find are:

Jewellery - see the elegant, modern designs of Ayana Jewellery and the colourful beaded necklaces by Own Sweet Time.

Cards and framed prints - the stunning illustrations and paintings made by artist Vickie Liu from StudioKaKa will make you a life-long collector.

Fashion - if you're lucky, you might stumble across an intricately embroidered garment from Mintchi or a screen printed bag from Travelling Alice.

Skincare - be amazed by Cleanse by Hepzabeth's beautiful skin care products including the confetti gold leaf pyramid soap bar and the vanilla rose lip scrub.

Upcycled furniture and homewares - marvel at the creations from Industriana, an industrial vintage furniture maker, and deck out your dining table with the stunning ceramic dishes from Mona Lisa Pottery.

The event has free entry and with so many interesting goods to browse through, the Etsy Community Market will easily be the highlight of your weekend.
