Etihad Stadium is a large stadium located in the Docklands, which is a short distance from Melbourne CBD. They show concerts, football, soccer, cricket and rugby matches throughout the year and it is a fantastic venue to visit.
I enjoy coming to Etihad Stadium, because first of all, it's extremely easy to get to via public transport. Southern Cross station is within walking distances and also local trams stop right at Etihad's doorstep. It makes venturing into the city to watch a football game very convenient and hassle-free.
The food at this place is seriously amazing. For stadium food, you probably expect it to be greasy and oily but there are actually some little food outlets that serve great food such as healthy sandwiches, sushi, hot roast beef rolls and souvlakis just to name a few. Of course, they have their hot chips, pies, hotdogs and burgers as well.
The prices are a bit steep, however, it is to be expected when attending the football. You are also allowed to bring in your own food and water bottles which makes it easier on the wallet if you would rather do that.
Whether we sit on level one, two or three, we always get a great view of the arena and there are large television screens that show the action up close too. Back in 2014, when attending the One Direction concert, my friends and I were situated on level 2 but could see everything perfectly and had a fantastic night out.
Etihad makes coming to the football fun, they have face painters on site, stuff for kids to do like football clinics outside, photo opportunities and balloons. Kids are also permitted free on Sundays to come see a game which is handy for parents.
Every time we come to Etihad for a football game, we love the atmosphere, the quick process of getting inside the gates and of course, the amazing hot pies which make it a true Aussie experience at the football.
We found the staff here to be very professional and helpful and the catering staff are efficient in getting through the queues.
If you haven't yet attended Etihad Stadium for an event, I highly suggest you treat your family or kids out for a day of nonstop action at one of Melbourne's greatest stadiums.
