Multicultural Arts Victoria, proud to present a unique event. World class lineup of artists - including sublime JAzmaris, DJ Cass, Abiy Solomon, Noray Mohamed, Helen Kassa, Bitsat Seyoum, Tesfalem Kidane, plus actors Tesfaye Gebrehana, Getahun Solomon. Given this musical innovation's largely unknown, these names might mean zilch. But their eclectic essence, festal flavour, tremendous talent, performances definitely aren't. And besides, mainstream is boring. Nothing exciting, or titillating, hip, inspiriting, original. Much unlike these trailblazers - I refer you to Samples A & B.
Their brand is unmistakable. Spirit, contagious. Multicultural Arts Victoria, offering the perfect chance to indulge. Not only in Ethio-poetic jazz, but a special Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Directed by Daniel Seifu and Tesfaye Gebrehana, this fresh brand of entertainment will have you titillated, captivated, energized. Blend of traditional Amharic Rhythm & modern jazz, Ethio-jazz itself is relished by global audiences. After being stomped on (but not stamped out) by the wretched Derg, since revived. Now, fortunately for us, finding a local foothold.
Before choosing to write this, I had zero idea what Ethio-poetic jazz even was. Nor of any potential benefit - for anyone not Ethiopian. Upon investigating further, this rich, burgeoning foreign art form has various benefits: from cultural awareness to relaxation. As such, won't only get you dancing, but also immersed - especially as the musicians effortlessly improvise lyrics. Alluringly euphonic sounds, infused with the vibrancy of everything that's Africa. But best thing (besides the talent and all that jazz), it's FREE! So come on down, and take a step out of the ordinary.
