When you walk past a beer cafe or a northern European restaurant like Essen, you are probably thinking schnitzels, beer and strudels (which is absolutely amazing and the best) however, when you look beyond that you will discover a world of schnapps and desserts.
Essen has a warm feeling, much like a family run restaurant. They have an amazing dessert chef, Muma, who can create magic in the desserts she makes. The first one that came to the table was a Lemon tart. Baked to perfection with just the right amount of tang and served with a dollop of cream made this the perfect start to the dessert feast. It was perfectly matched with honey schnapps - Barenjager.
Most definitely an A plus for the chocolate crepes layered with pistachio cream. This elaborate dessert would have been surely time consuming to prepare and the end result was that each mouthful was super-delicious.
