If you're looking for breakfast or lunch in Ascot Vale, this lovely cafe has a great menu and is open seven days a week. Located in a strip of shops on Union Road (about 7 km from the CBD and a stone's throw from Melbourne Showgrounds), it was a random but excellent choice for brunch after my visit to the Body Worlds Vital exhibition .

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The cafe is spacious, divided into multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas. The walls are adorned with bright, funky artwork. The menu has both substance and variety - it covers the usual cafe classics but also has a number of vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free options.

Our table enjoyed lattes and mochas, an omelette, smashed avo, corn and zucchini fritters, cream of mushroom soup, and three cheese loaded chips. The food was beautifully presented and it tasted pretty good too.
