Exquisitely positioned by the water at Williamstown Beach, the Esplanade Café caters to the crowd who just want to pass by for coffee and cake while enjoying the surrounds.

The sweets are mainly your generic baked goods, such as blueberry muffin and chocolate hedgehog, though my particular sample was very fresh, suggesting that although not fresh baked on the premises, the goods are turned over daily.

With a selection of around 16 flavours of ice creams also available the Café should keep the kids happy too. Adjacent to the popular picnic spot and playground adorned P.G. Sadler Reserve the Café has no shortage of walk in business.

On a sunny afternoon, the Esplanade Café is without doubt a marvellous place to sit and enjoy a hot or iced coffee. I must add that the quality of the flat white I was served prompts me to call it the best coffee in Williamstown (although it does look more like a cafe latte).

If you're looking for a more solid meal then you'd be better placed wandering about 100m down the Esplanade to Sirens or the Rotunda but the Esplanade Café is definitely the spot for a sit down or take away snack.
