A little Sense and Sensibility
Walking into Esher St. Café and Deli on a rainy day is like falling into a Jane Austen novel.

Esher St. will take you down the road of nostalgia, longing for the time when days were filled with books and leisurely strolls, and when dreamy serenades were as common as fancy hats.

Open from Monday to Friday, 6am to 3pm, this café is a great place to take a bunch of girlfriends or the kids. Esher St. is even open on Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 2pm. It is gluten-free friendly and has outdoor seating.

Owned by Sep and Fergus (the dynamic duo behind Alcove Cafe & Deli in Wilston), with partners Jia and Nikki, Esher St. was established in April 2013. The charming décor blends vintage and rustic as smoothly as an old cottage in the English countryside. The folks at Esher St. combine local flavours to bring a new, unique taste to the fine food and amazing coffee on offer.

The menu at Esher St. is a classic. Their breakfast menu ranges from muesli with yoghurt, ham and cheese toasties and fruit toast (chunky fruit and nut toast with macadamia butter), to a selection of egg breakfasts. The specialty seems to be the 'avocado smash' (this is basically avocado on toasted sourdough with a range of extras like eggs, bacon and haloumi).

Esher St.'s lunchtime specialties range from their definitive gourmet sandwiches with toppings including Moroccan falafel, chicken, Camembert cheese and cranberry and orange dressings. There is also a selection of Panini's and salads, with ravioli, quiche and even a deli cheese platter on offer.

The deli is filled with locally sourced produce and the café is strewn with gifts like locally designed and made leather wallets and belts that can also be purchased.

I think I'll fall into this Jane Austen novel again next weekend.
