Discover Eschol Park's biggest feature
Eschol Park is a small suburb of Campbelltown bordered by the suburbs of Raby, Eagle Vale and Kearns. Once made up of sprawling gently sloped farmland, it is today a modest collection of homes, a primary school and the local Lutheran church. In this otherwise quiet residential setting, the most imposing feature is the massive park located in its midst - the Eschol Park Sports Complex.

Home ground of the local Eagle Vale-St. Andrews junior rugby league team - the Eagles - the Eschol Park Sports Complex is a fantastic facility for recreation and fitness. It boasts two permanent rugby league fields as well as two other fields that are used alternately for athletics, soccer or cricket depending upon the season.

The complex caters to Eschol Park as well as the neighboring suburbs and is regularly used by clubs in the area, including the Eschol Park Soccer club and various bootcamp groups.

There are two car parks as well as roadside parking, which means the complex can easily accommodate a number of events at one time. The Epping Forest Drive entry caters most conveniently for parking near the rugby fields, while additional parking is available along Eagle Vale Drive, both within the site and alongside the road.

There are also provisions for a canteen, change rooms, toilets and floodlighting, for when the complex is in use during larger events.

For aerial views of the grounds, more information and to book use of the facilities, you can visit the Campbelltown City Council's Eschol Park Sports Complex page.

If you are not into team sports, however, and doing your own thing is more your idea of a good time, there are other options. The complex has a long jump pit, areas for training in discus and shot put, as well as a practice hoop for basketball.

For strength training, basic workout equipment is provided. There is also a pathway that surrounds the whole complex and distances have been painted on it so you can track how far you have run. The gentle slopes along the route allow you to challenge yourself as well.

When not being used as a sporting venue the Eschol Park Sports Complex functions as just another neighborhood park. There is always open access to the complex and since it has a number of entrances, the area is a popular thoroughfare for the locals. The complex conveniently links the residential areas of Eschol Park with the local shopping mall - the Eagle Vale Marketplace - on one side, and with the suburb of Raby and its local tavern and medical centre on the other.

The size of the space makes it ideal for taking a stroll, and it is a popular spot for walking the dog. There are also pleasant grassy areas which are distinct from the fields and these are suitable for reading and relaxing during the parks quieter times.

There's even a children's play area that includes swings, a slide and a seesaw. The paths around the park are also an enjoyable and safe place for children to ride bikes and scooters.

For a small suburb, the Eschol Park Sports Complex is an impressive facility which caters to more than just what the name suggests. Its a versatile space to get active on your own or with friends and family, as well as enjoy some quieter moments.

Thank you for your comment. In the second paragraph of the article you will notice if you read my article, that the Eschol Park Soccer club has been mentioned. The photo also has a caption that reflects that it shows a soccer game.
