Perfect for lovers of art, architecture and afternoon tea

On weekdays from December 3 through to December 31 2018, Sofitel Melbourne On Collins will be serving a Monochromatic High Tea to celebrate the opening of Escher X nendo/ between two worlds exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).

Over the last few years, Sofitel has offered a series of culinary creations to match NGV international exhibitions including their Modern New Yorker Lunch for MoNA , Couture Cocktails for The House of Dior House event and Lunch Like Van Gogh for Van Gogh & The Seasons.

So if you love art and exhibitions Sofitel can add to the sense of occasion by giving you the opportunity to pair your gallery outing with a memorable culinary event. This way you can fully immerse yourself in the artistic world you are entering.

For the Escher X nendo/ between two worlds exhibition, Sofi's Lounge will serve up black and white creations.

The absence of colour cannot hide the fact that these sweet treats are absolutely divine.

You will enjoy black sesame waffle cones with salted caramel, passion fruit gel and coconut chilboust, white chocolate opera slices with blackened coffee gel, Escher's Black Rose with raspberry sponge and blueberry jelly, rose and white chocolate mousse on hazelnut dacquois, plus lime meringues with ash choux profiteroles alongside charcoal scones accompanied by fresh clotted cream, house-made jam and lemon curd and an assortment of finger sandwiches.

These are all served on a custom-made architecturally designed Escher inspired high tea stand.

Perfect for lovers of art, architecture and afternoon tea the Monochromatic high tea is a culinary representation of Escher's most paradoxical work.

Shaped by combining the creativity of Sofitel's pastry extraordinaire, David Hann and the talented curators of NGV this one of a kind experience is quite possibly the most intriguing high tea experience to date, in Melbourne. And this is a city that thrives on its innovative high tea experiences.

Pastry Chef, David Hann says, "I was inspired by Escher's work that made people look past what is the norm in terms of visuals and colour. With this high tea, my hope is guests can open their minds to each item's own individual burst of flavour."

The Monochromatic high tea is served with a glass of sparkling wine, Madame Flavour loose leaf teas, and espresso coffee for $55 per person. Guests can also upgrade to have free-flowing sparkling for $65, replenished sweets and savouries for $70 and high tea with Taittinger Champagne for $75 per person.

While you don't have to dress a certain way for this high tea, I figure that choosing a monochromatic outfit will certainly fit the atmosphere. Like the beautiful outfit worn by former model turned resort wear designer Lindy Klim above.
