Ok so it's not the Hollywood Hills, but Castle Hill in Sydney's North West is fast becoming a go to place for family fun and winding down away from the inner city crowds and urban grind.
Start with a full buffet breakfast at Hills Lodge Hotel, so indulgent you'll probably induce a food coma and be tempted to check straight in and enjoy the day spa at your fingertips - but save the massages and pampering for the afternoon, there is way too much to see and do first. Spend the rest of the morning burning off your nourishment overload by swinging your clubs at Thornleigh Golf Centre, where the golf pro instructors will get you golf lessons destined to get you on your A game pronto.
By lunchtime you'll have a hard earned thirst, which can be quenched with craft beers at the nearby Australian Brewery. There you'll find a local microbrewery with beer and beer aficionados on tap, they will be happy to pour you a coldie and passionately flood you with knowledge of their latest craft keg. Before you know it you will become a craft beer or nothing type who prefers to taste it rather than just drink it. You'll be able to give those annoying wine snobs a lesson at your next dinner party.
But before you head back for that fancy dinner you've been thinking of, have some good clean-cut fun at the Hills Action Centre. Bowling and laser tag never get old, regardless of how old you might feel. Let your little ones run riot at the Kids Playland while you work up the nerve to try the indoor rock climbing. There is no excuse not to give it a crack - rain hail or shine at an indoor adventure epicenter there will always be an instructor on hand to help you. Worn out? You should be.
Finally head back to the hotel where this great day started, and peruse the spa menu while preparing yourself for another fabulous meal. You can stick to beer or enjoy some perfectly palatable wines at Nobles Bar & Restaurant where they can take you through how they managed to source the season's best produce and turn it into something delectable. Bets are on that you'll want a good massage and some spa pampering after you've tried and tasted all the action that the Hills has to offer.
