Looking for some fun activities and adventure instead of the usual touristic attractions in Penang? Then ESCAPE Adventureplay theme park is the place to be and one could easily spend at least 4 hours of fun there.
Even though I was much of a less adventurous person, I was convinced to experience the thrill after hearing much rave from friends.
Penang ESCAPE Adventureplay Theme Park
A few of us arrived at the park in Teluk Bahang just before the door was opened for business at 9am. We wanted to take advantage of the cooler weather and temperature in the morning.
Monkey Business
Upon admission to the park, we decided to attempt Monkey Business first. This activity challenged our balancing act on ropes and upper body strength. It is divided to three levels with increased difficulties in courage, physical, coordination and mental agility. Participants were briefed on the rules of the game and of course the safety measures. After the staff ensured our harness was tightly secured, we were set to monkey around.

Level one was rather straight forward but it could pose a challenging task for someone with a fear of heights. Once a level has been completed, participants can advance to the next stage or repeat the same level with a shorter time.

We all certainly looked like monkeys climbing and swinging with ropes from tree to tree, walking across logs and many more.
Flying Lemur
Next, we tried Flying Lemur where we hiked about 30m from ground level and tackled four zip-lines (139m) across the ravine. This one certainly got everybody screaming, especially the ladies.
Scaling up the tower
At Gecko Towers, we competed with each other to get to the top with ropes and gripped on various objects. It felt like wall-climbing with a twist.
Juice bar and food court
We took a break from the activities and had a quick bite at the park's food court. A variety of food stalls and juice bar can be found along with tables and benches. After rejuvenating ourselves and quenching our thirst, the fun continued.
Lots of fun activities and games
There were many more exciting activities at the park such as tubby racer, atan's leap (rapid decent with featherbed landing), A-maze (hide-and-seek adventure in the dark), coco climb, tarzan's rope and others.
Although most of the activities are suitable for all ages, some have prerequisite height and weight, and subjected to an individual's medical condition.
Mini adventure park for kids
Kids will not be left out as they can also have fun in multi-activity play structure areas including obstacle and balancing courses.
Grass-lined roof top
It is good to note that the park is also environmentally sensitive. Several grass-lined rooves were spotted on site. Apparently it requires less energy consumption for air-conditioning besides keeping the building cool.
We spent nearly four hours of great fun at the theme park and would have stayed on much longer if not for the limited time we had. It was exhausting and tiring but definitely worth it for the experience. I never thought I would have enjoyed it so much and would definitely consider coming back again.
