Like horses but don't feel like fighting your way to Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day? Then here's an alternative way to satisfy your need to be close to equine majesty.
From
Wednesday 29th October to Sunday 9th November 2014, the
Australian Gallery of Realist Artists (AGRA), the Australian national body for representational and realist art and artists, is hosting an exhibition entitled
Equus - Hoofprints on the Turf.
Healesville based artist
Lynette Orzlowski presents a series of images of horses, demonstrating outstanding detail, style, colour and technique.
Orzlowski has known since winning her first art competition at six years of age that she was destined to pursue a career in a creative field. Encouraged to pursue her artistic talent through school, she found her 'true calling' while studying for an Advanced Certificate in Sign Technology - her love and passion for airbrush painting.
After her studies, Orzlowski began to operate a sign writing business. This developed into creating artwork for billboards, canvas, paper and all things automotive, including customised artwork on cars, bikes, trucks and horses floats.
In this exhibition, Orzlowski has used her refined air brush skills to great effect to create a series of lifelike, powerful images of horses.
AGRA is open every day: from
10.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, including Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd November, over the Melbourne Cup weekend, and from
1.00pm - 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is
FREE.
All are welcome to the
exhibition opening night, from
7.00pm on 29th October.
AGRA is located at 1 Inglesby Street, Camberwell. There is plenty of parking, and ramp access to the gallery.
