Event: -
Giddy-Up - Melbourne's Top Horse Show
Horses, horses and more horses, EQUITANA Melbourne 2016 is Australia's premier equine event covering almost every aspect of horse exhibition, competition and education.

If horses and horse riding are your thing you will not want to miss this, the biggest and best horse show you will ever see.

A highlight of EQUITANA since 2005 The Way Of The Horse is a unique contest which pits three of the country's best horse trainers against one another in the education of a young, untrained horse previously unseen by them.

The crowd is able to watch and learn as each trainer simultaneously works in their own pen, judged by a panel of adjudicators. The aim of the challenge is to promote the kinder education of horses, getting away from the old-fashioned and often cruel 'breaking' philosophy.

Another major feature of the event, the EQUITANA Australian Open will include competition in such disciplines as Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Reining, Barrel Racing and Cutting.

EQUITANA Melbourne 2016 will also host the Australian Brumby Challenge where twenty-four of Australia's top trainers will spend 150 days leading up to the event schooling a native wild horse caught in the Victorian or New South Wales high country National Parks.

They will then bring these previously unhandled horses to EQUITANA and demonstrate their ability to train and partner the animal, showcasing the versatility of the breed.

EQUITANA Melbourne 2016 will be staged at Melbourne showgrounds from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th November.

I'm not a horse person but this looks really interesting. I'm marking it in my calendar. Thanks for the article Ian.
