Walk or drive past Epping Oval on any given day and there's a fair chance you'll see more than a few dogs chasing, fetching and sniffing their way around the wide expanse of grass. When there's no organised sport taking part on the oval it is a designated off-leash area. It's always a popular spot with local dog owners and is fully fenced, plus water and dog waste bags are provided.
Fully fenced, it offers a great little environment for energetic youngsters to explore. There are swings, a six-metre climbing tower, slides and plenty of room for inquisitive minds to go exploring.
A barbecue and picnic tables sit just next to the playground, meaning you can turn your trip to the park into a full day out. The barbecue and tables are also protected from the elements in case a summer storm blows in.
As well as the frolicking canines, the oval is often home to joggers and walkers doing laps to work up a sweat. Behind the oval itself there's a marked athletic track if you're a bit more serious about your running, while cricket practice nets are nearby.
There are several benches located around the fringes of the park in the shade. They're good vantage points to watch a cricket or soccer game on the oval, or to simply sit down and relax out of the sun.
