For one night only, the fabulous ensemble, Ephemera Trio, and accomplished duo, Some Of Two Parts, are performing an intimate concert at Venue 505, one of Sydney's finest live music venues.
Held on Thursday 7th June from 8.30pm, this amazing evening of genre-blending music promises to be an unmissable event for music lovers. Tickets are now on sale and priced only $15 per person.
Ephemera Trio is led by Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute/compositions) with Elsen Price (double bass/loop pedal) and Will Gilbert (trumpet).
The unique ensemble offers an original sonic experience set against the backdrop of NASA electromagnetic waves recordings, compiled by astronomer Professor Paul Francis.
Expect a musical exploration of celestial landscapes such as pulsars, craters, planetary jazz and contemporary classical, set to real space sounds, accompanied by projections of space probe footage.
Known for their freely improvised pieces, Ephemera Trio create a distinctive sound world which organically reacts to stellar concepts; Universe and Universality.
"Full of sonic textures and infinite possibility, this is one of the true concept albums of recent years." - Peter Wockner, Jazz and Beyond
"Arresting, genre-blurring ... Disquieting music with massive breadth and high drama." John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
Some Of Two Parts are pianist and composer Mark Isaacs and saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Loretta Palmiero.
Built on a jazz/contemporary classical bedrock and with folkloric elements, Two Parts mimic and play, complement and contradict, create and evolve in real-time composition. Musical qualities of the Iberian Peninsula such as flamenco and fado are also visited. The result can be brash, delicate, passionate or furious. And this is just the beginning …
Mark Isaacs has been exploring the spirit of "duende", the dark and soulful current that can run through even the most animated music. In meeting and playing spontaneous inventions with creatively versatile saxophonist Loretta Palmeiro, he found a like-
minded soul and the spirited duo was born.
An Australian Arts Council recipient, co-leader of the Spyglass Gypsies and director of Alma Orquestra, Loretta Palmeiro has played with Mara, Divergence and Sydney Jazz Orchestras, the Australian Symphony Orchestra, and is a casual musician with the QSO.
