Despite the tremendous number of pizzerias and Italian restaurants in Sydney, it can be hard to find an excellent pizza, but if you know where to go, you are in for a real treat.
Enopizzeria in Neutral Bay is one of those places that really knows how to deliver a top notch pizza, which has the perfect base, molten toppings with the perfect balance of flavour, and the right consistency to allow you to eat with or sans cutlery.
Only the best is offered at Enopizzeria. The food is something special, and will enhance anyone's love affair with Italian cuisine.
The Italian restaurant and wine bar located on Grosvenor Street delivers much joy to diners in the form of inspiringly delicious pizzas, pastas and other Italian delights, paired with a wine bar offering a comprehensive list of topples to accompany your meal.
The décor of the restaurant is modern and sleek, conveying a classy atmosphere with a mood lighting, dark wooden tables and chairs, a beautifully designed wine bar and marble countertops. There is a large communal table in the centre, and tables of various sizes located inside and outside the restaurant.
Under the ownership and operation of esteemed restaurateur Mauro Marucci of Pizza e Birra and Mille Vini fame, the food Enopizzeria is made with heart and soul and does not disappoint.
The menu is a collection of starters, mains, pastas, risottos, meat dishes and of course, a long and extensive pizza list. The whole menu is laid out on the tablecloth for you, so there's no forgetting what you order, or the ingredients used as you talk amongst your table awaiting your dishes.
An Italian classic, the Arancini Balls ($11) are filled with Rice, Mushrooms, Black Truffle, and Tallegio Cheese and are a moorish starter which really impresses. The small tasty morsels pack some punch and deliver great flavours, to entice the appetite for the main course.
Not to be missed is the Cristella Pizza ($24) which arrives on a perfect thin base, and is topped with Mozzarella, Free Range Ham, Zucchini Flowers and Stacchino Cheese. This is one of the better pizzas I have tasted, being cooked to perfection. The light airy base is topped with fine, fresh ingredients, which are creative, tasty and included in just the right amount.
For those who prefer pasta, you cannot go past the Tonnarelli ($25), which is handmade, and served with Slow Cooked Italian Pork Sausage and Porcini Mushrooms, in a delicious Ragu Sauce. The pasta is silky and the meat and sauce just melt in your mouth, with great depths of flavour.
Desserts are meant to be amazing, especially the Tiramisu, but with the generous portions for the Entrees and Mains, it could be tricky to fit in dessert.
Enopizzeria is a long way from Italy, but serves up amazing meals which taste as good as Nonna used to make.
Despite concerted design efforts to minimise noise levels, the restaurant is very loud during busy times, and it can be hard to hear, but you are probably going to be too busy devouring your meal to notice.
