Check out this well kept secret
There is a really well-kept secret place I want to tell you about, and I know, but we don't want to keep it a secret any more.

beaches, nature, places of interest, animals and wildlife, picnic spots
They even have a platypus!

Have you heard about Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre? Well, that's not the secret but it is close by.

The ranger and the Glider!

Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre is situated at 60 Mount Nebo Road, not too far along, and is conveniently opened from 9:00am-4:00pm daily.

When you get there you will find the discovery center is filled with wonderful treasures. It has been there for years, and continues to remake itself and to encourage knowledge around the native creatures that live close by.

If you arrive at just the right time you will get to see the Gliders being fed, and what a wonderful experience it is. These nocturnal beauties are shy, but let their inner sweet tooth get the better of them when they are offered nectar. The lovely young ranger gives an informative talk and her passion around these young beings is quite evident.

New changes are in the works around the place, with new animals coming and the reworking of the old tower aviary is an upcoming project.

You are here!

There is a small cover fee to see the animals but this helps the center look after these little beauties and you can then make your way to get coffee or a snack. Now if you make your way to the walking path outside the discovery center it leads you to the secret I want to share with you today.

The Enoggera Reservoir, formerly know as the Enoggera Dam, is a special place containing nice chilled water, perfect to dive into on a hot Brisbane day. This beauty is away from the beaches and busy highways that many people will throng to on their way out of town for holidays.

The path that leads to the water!

You can locate it from either path at the discovery center, the one from the parking lot will lead you right to the water's edge and beach. Take your floaties, sun screen, hats, picnic goodies and come and spend a few refreshing hours.

New to the reservoir is Walkabout Creek Adventures. They are a recent addition and can now enhance your visit even further. You may choose to extend your couple of hours to get in some adventure as well as all kinds of recreational equipment to choose from.

The price list!

There are mountain bikes, kayaks, stand up boards, all on offer from 1 - 4 hours, charged at a decent rate. If you have been thinking about trying a mini-segway, now is your chance. They even offer an all equipment day pass for $55.pp.

This is a little secret spot that takes you away from the busy highways and beaches and it is a wonderful, relaxing, special place to hang out with friends, right in the city. Try to keep it to yourself but you may want to share the secret and bring others along.
