It's Saturday night. You are on the couch with your partner 'umming' and 'uhhing' about what to do to pass the evening as neither of you have plans.

After some time of twiddling fingers, you both decided to go and rent a couple DVDs and grab a pizza.

Well, that does sound fun, but here's a better idea to spice things up and enhance your weekend.

Go on a date.

relive the romance

Not just out to dinner, but an actual date. Make arrangements to meet at an organised venue. Whether it be a restaurant, concert, movie or a picnic. Don't head there together.

Ladies, spend that day pampering. Treat yourself to a blow wave and makeover or if you're a little strapped for cash, tell your man he is not to enter the bathroom while you wash your locks and DIY facial.

Slip into that little black dress, spritz yourself with that delicious perfume reserved only for special events, and relive the first weeks of your relationship all over again.

Men, go and buy a new shirt and some cologne, buy your pretty lady a bunch of flowers and make the restaurant reservation.

There are plenty of cosy restaurants in Brisbane City for the occasion. Don't choose upon a big, glitzy place either, or you'll be flat out hearing one another talk and leave with a very light wallet.

Thai restaurants are fantastic, usually with dim lighting and close seating and exceptionally friendly service, not to mention spicy delicacies, any excuse for a bottle of red.

Enjoy a bottle of red together

After dinner, take a stroll along Kangaroo Point cliffs and take in the city view.

It will be exciting knowing you're heading home separately but will spend the remainder of the evening together.

Dating your partner is a whole lot of fun and makes an ordinary weekend that little bit special.
