If you think you know Melbourne then think again. Because you have probably never been shown your city through the eyes of an engineer.

This free tour is part of Australian Engineering Week which is hosting various events throughout the country.

The tour will take a closer look at Melboure's city bridges and buildings which are considered important from an engineering perspective.

You also get to learn about some of our earlier utility services.

For the uninitiated that means things to do with electricity, gas, water, and sewage.

So certainly not your average tour!

The walking tour also covers our transport infrastructure which is how we move people and goods through out ever expanding city.

You can expect to walk at least 5km so you can get your day's exercise in as well. But given the distance you are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. There will however be a pit spot for coffee along the way.

And being Melbourne you might just want to bring a brolley or coat just in case.
