Endometriosis Australia has put together a great event to help raise awareness and end the silence of
Endometriosis; the invisible, painful and debilitating disease that affects women worldwide. This dreadful disease is unrecognisable and misdiagnosed. What's worse, is that it is often misunderstood and sufferers are shunned for their symptoms
It's an invisible illness, which means others may not visibly see signs of sickness, however internally it does more damage than you'd think.
Being an Endometriosis sufferer myself, I'm extremely passionate about this cause, and would like to once and for all end the stigma and silence within the Australian community.
Endometriosis is incurable and crippling, affecting about 1 in 8 women and girls; that's roughly 200 million people & about ten times the prevalence of autism. It can increase risks of infertility, fatigue, depression, gastrointestinal issues, mood disorders, and more. The reproductive system is predominantly and commonly affected, however it can spread and develop to cause further damage to many organs, including the lungs, bladder, bowel, diaphragm, nerves and muscles.
The
EndoMarch will take place on the same day in March in dozens of cities around the world to raise awareness and to unite sufferers who may feel as though they're alone on their journey.
Adelaide's EndoMarch will be held on Saturday March 19th, 2016 at the Mecure Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide, which will host an extravagant High Tea.
It will be an exciting day with hosts and Endometriosis Australia Ambassadors Mel Greig and Kate Anderson. Special guest speakers will be making an appearance, and delicious food will be available to help raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis Australia.
