If you are the sort of person who loves novelty accommodation, the sort of person for whom a standard hotel room would have you bored half to death, then I have a lovely and unique place to rest your head to share with you.
It is called End Of The Line and you will be sleeping in railway carriages in the time honoured tradition of a luxury rail travel experience, whilst actually going nowhere.
You can choose from two types of accommodation as they have both a historical railway signal box and a restored 1913 railway carriage car, both offering luxury accommodation in the heart of Victoria's spa country.
To sweeten the deal, if your time is flexible they also have special mid week discounts available for both.
Getting away from it all has never been easier with such unique and luxurious accommodation all set in a secluded bushland settings.
The 1913 railway carriage has now been converted into a luxury hideaway for two people. It comes complete with a queen size bed, bathroom, television dvd and cd player and a lounge dining room where you can enjoy your complimentary breakfast.
If you prefer to stay in the signal box, you will enjoy panoramic views across the lake. It features a deluxe queen size bed, kitchen, television dvd and cd players and a bathroom with an antique clawfoot bath.
When I visited it was hard to choose which one I preferred to stay in. Both have their own unique charm. In the end the carriage won out as I figured it was a bit more unusual for me and something that somehow appealed to my sense of the wacky.
You can get away from it all in a piece of Victorian railway history, sitting back and being pampered, just a short 1 hour drive from Melbourne on the Western Highway. Getting there is half the fun as you travel through Daylesford and the Spa / Gold districts, towards Ballarat and into the small town of Blampeid.
