Meet the artists:
Jen CloherJen Cloher (Ngãpuhi & Ngati Kahu) is a highly respected recording and performing artist living on unceded Wurundjeri land in Naarm (Melbourne) Australia. Cloher is co-founder of Milk! Records (Courtney Barnett, Tiny Ruins, Hand Habits) and I Manage My Music, a masterclass series for self-managed artists.Cloher's debut album Dead Wood Falls (2006) was nominated for an ARIA for Best Female Artist and their most recent self-titled album (2017) debuted at no. 5 on the ARIA charts and received 5 Star reviews from The Guardian, The Herald Sun and The Independent (UK). It was shortlisted for The Australian Music Prize and listed in the Rough Trade UK Top Albums of 2017. Cloher was crowned Double J's Australian Artist of The Year and won the AIR Award for Best Artist.
The MerindasA collective force of Ballardong Whadjuk and Nyoongar woman Kristel Kickett (from Tammin, WA) and Candice Lorrae of Jawoyn and Thursday Island heritage (born in Darwin, NT) these Melbourne-based soul sisters are trail-blazing with their soaring vocals, infectious energy and innovative style of Indigenous music. From singing Motown hits at the premiere of The Sapphires movie in 2012, The Merinda's have gone on to perform over 400 shows, supporting international stars Brandy and Craig David and recently secured a worldwide publishing deal with GAGA Music, and live representation with Australia's largest independent booking agency Select Music.

Maple GliderMaple Glider is the new project of solo artist Tori Zietsch (Peach with a Z). In the singer-songwriter tradition, the music is centred around the lyrics, exploring intimate themes and often serving as a self-catharsis. Offsetting the heavy nature of some of the words, Maple Glider herself is humorous, fabulous and warm. Over plucked acoustic guitar or deftly weighted piano chords, Maple Glider shares vignettes of her life; growing up in a restrictive religious household, falling in and out of love, interstate and international relocations, the new perspectives travel can bring along with the alienation of being away from the familiar.
ChitraIntroducing Melbourne artist Chitra, a twenty-two-year-old genre bending singer/ songwriter that seamlessly weaves the blunt force of rock n roll with the candid storytelling and heartache of country and soul. Inspired by 50s & 60s girl groups like The Supremes and The Shirelles as well as influences from modern day heroes such as Molly Burch, Angel Olsen, and Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief, Chitra's songs capture the candid and lived in space of in-betweenness of an old soul growing up and navigating the present with an observant and cuttingly self-aware lens.Listen to the Spotify playlist More info: sandringhamvillage.org.au
