Jungle Chalet Art & Watergarden Event
Leave the 'concrete jungle' for a real jungle experience right in the heart of Lane Cove!

Due to high demand there is now an extra evening for THE ENCHANTED NIGHT GARDEN this Saturday 9th September. Families will enjoy a treat of atmospheric and ambient lighting, including spectacular flower lights, bubbles, laser effects and nature-inspired leadlight windows, all lit up at one of Lane Cove's unique homes, the Jungle Chalet.

Streams, ponds and waterfalls surround the Jungle Chalet, which becomes 90% surrounded by water. This is all part of Don Murchison's Watergarden Artscape, which is set in a rainforest enclave beside the Lane Cove Bushland Park. Don has personally placed every piece of sandstone and every pebble to replicate nature in a miniature wonderland.

Be fascinated by "hygromorphomatics", the term Don uses to describe the artistic harvesting of rainwater from all hard surfaces, to create streams ponds and waterfalls. The water is then recycled around the Watergarden.

Children will be fascinated by the Sculptured Rainforest Walk, Spouting Elephant, Gorilla in the Mist, voice tube and more.

This is an event in the Lane Cove Festival.

Jungle Chalet
The Upper Watergarden is a fairy-land at night

A small torch is recommended, especially for those with poor eyesight as lighting is subdued and atmospheric. Young children must be accompanied and supervised by parents.

Please note that there are sandstone steps to climb with no disabled access. Please wear suitable footwear for a rustic rainforest environment. High heels are definitely not suitable!

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for Secondary students, $5 for children under the age of 12, and free for toddlers. A family pass is $25 and $20 for Health Care Card Holder and Pensioner families.

To avoid undue congestion, it may be necessary to limit door sales or allow visitor numbers to decrease before allowing further door sales. For this reason, it is recommended to book tickets in advance.

There are two-time slots each evening: 5.30 pm - 7.30 pm and from 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm. The first half hour, from 5.30 pm - 6 pm is suggested for elderly people who wish to become acquainted with the pathways and steps in twilight. Most people will prefer to view the Enchanted Night Garden once it is dark, when the lighting is most effective, and this will be from approximately 6 pm.

This sounds lovely. Been tossing around if we want to go. Wish the admission price was less.
